The match was yesterday in the fourth division of Argentine football. Claypole, the top team in the points table, faced the second team Deportivo Linieres. Liners center forward Julian Rodriguez Seguer was standing by during the kick off.

The 25-year-old forward committed such an act as the referee blew the whistle for the start of the game, which caused an uproar in the Argentinian media.

The Argentinian media "La Nacion" reported that a teammate of Seguerre touched the ball when referee Nicolas Cresta Claypole blew the starting whistle. Seguerre, who was standing just behind the ball, noticed that the home team's goalkeeper, Eros de Luca, had come forward from his position. Seguer took the opportunity.

He took a shot while the ball was at the kick-off spot. The ball floated in the air as Claypole took shelter over the goalkeeper's head and into the net. Such goals are nothing new in football. However, the time when Seguerre scored the goal is being debated. Goal in just 4 seconds of the start of the match! La Nacion claims that this is the fastest goal in Argentine football history.

In the end, Liniers won 1-0 with Seguer's goal. Seguer broke Carlos Dunton Seppa Quercia's record in Argentina's first division in 1979 with the goal scored in 4 seconds, La Nacion reported. On 18 March that year, Seppa Quercia scored a goal in the 5th minute of the match for Himnasia against Esgrima La Plata.

However, Argentina's media is different like Ole. Ole doesn't think Seguerre's single is the record for the fastest goal in Argentine football. Seguer shared the record set by Luis Torres for Akasuyoso in 1996 by scoring in 4 seconds, the media said. Argentinian TV channel and media "TNT Sports" also reported that Seguer shared the record of Luis Torres.

According to La Nacion, the fastest goal in the history of professional football is held by Nawaf Al Abed, a former player of the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. On 7 November 2009, Prince Faisal scored a goal with 2.3 seconds left in the Under-21 tournament against Al-Shulla, a midfielder who currently plays for Al-Shabaab Club.

But there are precedents of goals in less time than this. Gavin Stokes scored 2.1 seconds into a junior non-league match in Scottish football in 2017. The example of goal in 2.2 seconds is also in junior football. It was in Serbia in 2012, the goal was scored by Vuk Bakic.
